Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art & A Selection of Chinese Bronze Censers

Two Ravenel Chinese Works of Art Spring Auctions, “Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art” and “A Selection of Chinese Bronze Censers” achieved a combined total of HK$ 3,826,200. Among the lots sold, the successful number of acquisitions of bronze censers in particular reflects current market sentiment. In total, 23 out of the 44 lots were sold.

 

Ravenel Spring Auction 2015 Hong Kong: A Selection of Chinese Bronze Censers came to a conclusion on June 2. A Gold-splashed Bronze Tripod Censers with Dragon Handles from Qing Dynasty realized HK$357,000. A Bronze Cylindrical Censer with Arabic Script and A Bronze Square Censer with Halberd Handles from Qing Dynasty both realized HK$144,000. In addition, a Bronze Censer with Halberd Ears and A Bronze Cylindrical Tripod Censer with Arabic Script both realized HK$132,000. A Bronze Tripod Censer with Arabic Script also realized HK$84,000. These results aptly demonstrate the popularity of bronze censers with Arabic script among buyers.

 

In addition to bronze censers, the special auction “Fine Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art” featured a Pair of Yellow Jade Bracelets with Dragons and Mice Carving from the 17th century which realized HK$600,000. A Ding Yao Persimmon Glazed Cup and Saucer dated to the Northern Song Dynasty was sold for HK$384,000. Among the Buddha figures, A Gilt Bronze Figure of Seated Buddha from the Yuan Dynasty was sold for HK$156,000!

 

Ravenel strived to present to collectors the finest and most exquisite pieces of art at the spring auction for Chinese works of art.
