Sophie CHANG

Taiwanese 1944

Born in 1944 in Taiwan, the wife of Morris Chang-the chairman of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and of the TSMC Education and Culture Foundation, Sophie Chang has been devoted to charitable activities for many years. She reaches out to women, children, and the underprivileged, she is dedicated to education, the environment, and cultural aesthetics. Chang’s oil paintings utilize unrestrained colors to portray unique artistic concepts. She employs layers of oil paints and conflicts among them to depict her personal concept of the gorgeous and touching “Mind of the Universe” to interpret her compassion for the world. In 2011, Chang held her first public solo exhibition, “True Heart and Sincere Wishes—Sophie Chang Oil Painting Traveling Exhibition.” The exhibition included 60 works, many of which she donated to be sold at a charity fundraiser.
