PANG Jiun

Taiwanese 1936

Born in 1936 in Shanghai to an artistic family, Pang Jiun’s parents belong to the first generation of oil painters in China. After holding his first exhibition with his sister at the age of 11, Pang Jiun was admitted to the Hangzhou Academy of Fine Arts two year later, and was soon transferred to the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. Pang Jiun’s works possess the verve of Western Impressionist and Fauvist art, as well as the poetic ambiance of Chinese literati paintings. The artist integrates the philosophies of Eastern and Western art, and has strong influence on the contemporary Chinese art scene. Pang Jiun was named one of the Who’s Who in the Chinese Contemporary Art World in 1994, and was listed in Cambridge Who’s Who in 1995. Since 1987, Pang Jiun has been living in Taiwan and teaching at the National Taiwan University of Arts. His works are widely collected by museums and private collectors around the world.
