LIU Haisu
Chinese 1896 - 1994
Born in Qiansu Wujin, word Jifang, number Haisu, later number Haiweng, Jingyaun the old, Liu is a famous contemporary artist, art educator. Original named Liu Pan, nick name Liu "Nine",study name "Jifang" English name Liu Hai Sou, his studio was named "Ocean of art, dome of heaven" When he was 14, he went to Shanghai to study western paintings, by 16, he founded the Shanghai Private Fine Arts Academy (later become Shanghai Fine Arts School) with Wu Shiguang, also became the headmaster of the school, boys and girls in the same classroom for the first time during then, they use nude figures as figures. In 1918 he taught in Beijing, went to Japan for survey and art communications for 2 years. In 1927 he was persecute by the warlord Sun Chuanfang and went into exile to Japan. After that, he went to Europe for survey, he had been to France, Italy, Switzerland and England, and he was engaged by the Chinease department of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, held many solo exhibitions in Shanghai, Nanjing and other places throughout the world.
