Heshi YU


Chinese-American 1935


Heshi Yu was born in Shandong, 1935. He graduated from the Art Department of National Taiwan Normal University. In 1946, he traveled to France to further his studies at l'Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 1968, he moved to New York and devoted himself to creation. A work of 1970s was selected by Lincoln Center to make a serigraph to celebrate the bicentenary of America. Multiple materials, acrylic and ink, used in his works; Through the concept to modern painting, Mr. Yu blended the find art's tradition of Chinese and Western. He created his unique style and became one of the most attentive Chinese painters active in New York art world. He continues to showcase his work in exhibition in Taiwan, China, Japan, Europe and USA.
