Winland KUO


Taiwanese 1941


Born in Tainan, Taiwan. In 1958, Kuo studied in Chang-cheng sculpture studio, Chang was a Fine Art teacher of Tainan Second Senior High School. In 1965, Kuo won the Ten Outgoing Young Persons Award for design. In 1969, Kuo worked in Tai yang advertising Company and won various layout design awards. In 1984, his first solo exhibition was held in American Culture Center and Nan Gallery. Kuo is now a commissioner in Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts for collections; a judge to literature and art Award of National Culture Foundation. Kuo is good at copper sculptor and all his works have symbolical meaning. Kuo got the artistic ideas and inspried by Master-Brancusi, Arp and Moore and so on. Kuo is a talented sculptor; his works were mainly body creation. There have long-term exhibitions of Winland Kuo outdoor sculpture in Music Hall of Tainan Municipal Culture Center, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts and the grounds of Taipei's new Cathay building.
