WU Hao

Born in Beijing, 1973. Currently working and living in France. He graduated from Central Academy of Art and Design of China, Beijing in 1996; Master in Plastic Arts at " École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts" in 2001; PHD in Chinese philosophy at Peking University in 2007. Major solo exhibitions: 2010 "Painted Words", Hong Kong; 2009 "Wu Hao – Solo Exhibition", Tokyo; 2008 "Wu Hao – Solo Exhibition", Paris; 2004 "Wu Hao – Solo Exhibition", Guangzhou. Award: 2004 "1st prize of EMAAR international art symposium – Dubai".
Wu Hao's Square shapes give the impression of a strong interaction with Color Field painting. However in Wu's Square shapes, the gesture and the usage of paint-texture brushstrokes are in contrast with Color Field paintings.
