Born in Chongqing, China, Chen later immigrated to Taiwan with her parents. Chen graduated from National Chengchi University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In the mid-seventies, she began studying painting and obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1990 from the Pratt Institute in New York, where she held a solo exhibition later that year. Chen currently lives in Taipei as a full-time artist. Since 1987, her works have been exhibited at the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Lincoln Center in New York, and La Galerie Internationale and the Grand Palais in Paris. Her works have also been featured at the 17th Annual Asian International Art Exhibition in Seoul, South Korea in 2002, Shanghai Art Museum in 2003, and Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in 2010, as well as at various institutes and private art galleries. Chen’s artwork is housed in the collections of various organizations, such as the Pratt Institute, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and Shanghai Art Museum.
