Yuan Yuan was born in 1973 in Zhejiang, China. Yuan Yuan graduated from China Academy of Art in Hangzhou from oil painting department and a Master of Fine Arts in 2008. He was granted with Luo Zhongli scholarship, a highly valued art award. Yuan yuan’s subjects are mainly interiors, forming his agenda on the relationship between architectural buildings and the residual traces of what a place used to be in the past. The depiction of humid environment and a sense of abandonment are often seen in his paintings, in which the viewers would share a sense of passing time, of transition and history.
