Kazuo SHIRAGA


Japanese 1924 - 2008


Born in Amagasaki, Japan, a painter, performance artist. He was a member of “Zero Kai” and of Gutai Group, an avant-garde artist. He created some performance art works in his early career life, and later he was influenced by the American abstract art, which leaded he to change his artistic language, and develop a signature style-”Footpainting”; he defined his art as “ a decision to the instant vitality between life and death.
