LIU Guoshu

Chinese　1919

Liu born in Wuling, Sichuan in 1919, taught at an elementary school and began to learn painting after graduating from a junior high school in 1935. He entered the Wu Chang Academy of Fine Arts in 1938 and was invited as the Director of the Department of Western Painting at Southwest Fine Art School in 1948. Liu has taught at Southwest People Academy of the Arts and Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts since 1950. He also became a member of China Artists Association and acted as a managing director of its Sichuan branch during this period. Mr. Liu devoted himself much to art education and training the new generation of art elites in China.
