Catalogue Note:

Yang Feiyun was born in a Mongolian yurt in 1954. In 1978 he qualified for the Department of Oil Painting at the China Central Academy of Fine Art (CAFA) and after graduating in 1982 joined the teaching faculty of the Department of Stage Art of the Central Academy of Drama. In 1986 he transferred back to the CAFA's Department of Oil Painting where at one point he was appointed a professor of the department. In 1989 he went on a study tour of the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy and France where he also attended exhibitions. In 1995 he traveled to Sweden, the Netherlands and Belgium for further study tours and exhibitions. He is currently a member of the China Artists Association, a professor of the Department of Oil Painting at the CAFA, a Ph.D. student counselor at the China Art Institute and a professional artist. His published works include "Paintings by Yang Feiyun" and he has many pieces now in the collections of domestic and foreign art organizations and collectors.

Yang Feiyun is without doubt the leader of China's contemporary Realism school. His pure and refined classic oil painting motifs bring to people the beauty discovered in everyday life.
