"Advent of the Phoenix"is made upon Mr. George Yeh's request to glorify the ROC Pavillion in the Japan World Exposition Expo '70. Seven meters tall, nine meters wide, made of steel and painted five colors as base color, big red as its main color, in order to conform to time's tide, modern mechanical lines are used during the creation of the phoenix as usual, but during the soldering process, Yuyu Yang asked the workers to leave soldering marks naturally, freely, the ice cold geometric figure thus turned soft and mild, he adds the humanity and warmth which western sculptures usually lack of to the phoenix. The finished big red phoenix not only outshines the dark and gloomy Korean Pavillion (which has thirteen big and high rise chimneys out side of it) next to the ROC Pavillion, it also sets off the veiled beauty of the ROC Pavillion that is composed and dignified with classic elegance by using black as the background color, it's a very successful piece of work. Up for auction is the prototype of "Advent of the Phoenix" It was supposed to have a prototype before having a large scale sculpture, but it reversed on this one, it was because of the making the large scale phoenix sculpture must be completed imminently, and after it finished, the prototype is made. The finished prototype is exhibited at the entrance of the ROC Pavillion Restaurant, for appreciation.
