Catalogue Note:

It was a fine spring afternoon, with oblique rays of sunlight casting warmly into the studio. The exuberantly antique Ming furniture was enlivened by a friendƠs gift, a bouquet of fresh flowers blossoming beautifully in a blue and white plum blossom vase. Shadows of the flowers, luxuriant and well spaced, were cast upon the walls, projections were further reflected in clear mirrors, on top of which, daylight from outside the room reflected off the mirror. This very still life painting, a composition of such luminosity, aesthetic beauty and serenity, is my tribute to Vermeer, the Dutch painter whom I greatly admire.
