AN AGATE ‘SCHOLAR’ SNUFF BOTTLE
QING DYNASTY |
Well hollowed and skillfully worked with a continuous scene of a long bearded scholar leaning against a large pine tree appreciating the rockworks in near proximity, skillfully utilizing the russet inclusions to highlight the texture of the gnarled tree trucks and a playful squirrel guarding its four pine nuts, both designs rendered in high relief. |
