Ye Zhongsan (1869-1945) had a broad repertoire in terms of his subject matter. The present lot’s depiction of the crane offers a sense of nostalgic serenity. In Guide to antique , it classified rock crystal under the genre of quartz, further elaborating that it is a rock-like, crystalized, colorless and transparent like glass, which in turn makes it a great material for snuff bottles. The inside painted snuff bottle was developed and quickly assumed an important position within the snuff bottle world during the Late Qing period. Ye Zhongsan's Sketxhes Ye Zhongsan's Sketxhes
