Tadao Ando,born in Osaka, Japan in 1941, is a Japanese selftaught architect whose approach to architecture and landscape was categorized by architectural historian Francesco Dal Co as critical regionalism. He established his own design studio, Tadao Ando Architects and Associates. In 1969, became a professor of the University of Tokyo in 1997. He emphasises the association between nature and architecture. He intends for people to easily experience the spirit and beauty of nature through architecture, interested in ultiizing natural light through the structure of archetecture. Representative projects including Row House in Sumiyoshi, Church of the Light, Chichu Art Meseum, etc.
