A BRONZE TRIPOD CENSER WITH BRIDGE EARS
Qing Dynasty |
Fine quality pure bronze with a yellowish brown skin that emanates a great sense of age. The piece has a round opening with a pair of bridge handles lifted from the rim. This proceeds into a cinched neck and a round abdominal that narrows sharply into a round base with three small legs. On the bottom, the six-characters, Made in the Xuande Period of the Ming Dynasty, are written in seal script and are embossed in a square frame in the middle. The style is straight and neat with power and depth. As dynamic arcs follow lines of graceful curves, this censer really is a beautiful vessel, full of charm. |
